For roughly a decade, Head With Wings have been defying stylistic restrictions with their exploratory and heartfelt musings. Aided once again by the production of Redemption/Silent Skies’ Vikram Shankar, the group double down on those strengths on Without Intervention.
It kicks off with The Dream a multifaceted track whose forceful musicianship, defiant vocals and symphonic yet subtle nuances are simultaneously accessible and avant-garde. Elsewhere, Galaxy, uphold that adventurous magic.
A couple of minute-long electric guitar interludes in the shape of Remnant and 26 Bell Chimes add a cinematic dimension to the sequence, with the former’s moody coatings and the latter’s ceremonial rings giving each plenty of personality.
