US proggers’ invitation to stick around and enjoy their thoughtful partying. It’s long been clear that District 97 collectively possess prodigious talent and, in Leslie Hunt, a singer with authority and a strong identity, even if their off-kilter approaches and wilful eclecticism can be a bit much at times. Five albums and a couple of line-up changes in, Stay For The Ending might well help to ease some of the doubters off the fence and into their world. From the title-cut opener through to final track The Watcher, apparent that the band have lost none of their edge or musical chops. Strains of Crimson (especially in Crossover) and UK can be detected, alongside more guitar-heavy prog metal elements, and drummer Jonathan Schang even sticks in a drum solo to hard-rocking…
