"I’ve been spoiled over the years to have such talent on tap,” says Christina Booth in the notes for her third solo album, referencing Magenta (guitars), Jiffy Griffiths and keyboard player, But they’ve had some pretty good material to work with too: Booth’s vocal is assured, distinctive, soft yet powerful. The themes are big – political corruption, ageing, bereavement, alcohol addiction – but her range, expression and talent for storytelling (often from a first-hand POV) carry it off, with parallels to her late friend and collaborator David Longdon.
