FALL INTO THE SUN AND EXPLODE FOREVER (chemicalmother.bandcamp.com) is the second LP from Chemical Mother. As the all-caps in the title hints, the band have taken the post-prog, mathcore intensity of their first album and somehow managed to shift up a gear. Where their debut Hypnic Detour was a math-prog workout with a lo-fi, garage rock feel to it, FALL… is sleeker. There’s a more psychedelic feel to the drums and nods to art-metal with the guitars. Listeners who want to dive straight in at the deep end should try And Etcetera or A Rainbow Smeared. For something more ethereal, by their standards anyway, check out Pause To Doze or You And I Are Eternally Strangers.
