Highly approachable fifth album from arty Brit rocker. Since 2012’s Propeller, ex-Hungersleep singer/songwriter Grice Peters made a name as an artist of rare refinement. He says his fifth solo album is the result of “looking inward through the microscope as much as looking outward through the telescope into the universal”. Pretentious? A bit, but it makes sense in the context of the moods here. Opener Involution has shades of Dark Side-era Floyd and Steven Wilson, with whom Peters shares a thin yet expressive vocal style. The lush Damage Done and harmony-rich Winter are indicative of the accessible, melodic material here. The lovelorn Without Her and earworm Saviour deserve to be heard by a wider audience.
