Since 1987, cherished cult act The Bevis Frond’s unstinting neo-psychedelic vision has spawned some 35 LPs, many of them doubles. They’d take days to explore, but this heartwarming documentary offers a quick fix in 45 minutes. Filmed in and around Nick Saloman’s home in Hastings, East Sussex, it’s a human interest story with a fabulous Bevis Frond soundtrack. Saloman comes across as a mildly eccentric cottage-industry creative who’s clearly much loved by his wife and grown-up daughter, and by the pals with whom he still plays walking football aged 71. The ace power-pop song after which the film is named functions as a device of sorts. First we see Saloman compose Little Eden, later we see him tracking it in his home…
