When it comes to unique collaborations, look no further than Another Tide, Another Fish (Basin Rock), a strikingly original two-disc set credited to Andrew Tuttle, Michael Chapman. Influential guitar maestro Chapman passed away in 2021, leaving behind unfinished pieces for a projected album, Another Fish. His widow Andru duly passed them onto Australian multi-instrumentalist Tuttle, who reshaped the recordings with banjo and various effects. The results are glorious, embellishing and transforming Chapman’s work in subtly rhythmic ways without ever losing sight of the source material. More overtly psychedelic is Through Other Reflections (Phosphonic), the fifth effort from Nottingham quartet The Soundcarriers. Shifting between trippy garage-pop, tropicalia, weird jazz-folk and vintage exotica, it’s a thoroughly intoxicating listen.
