Soon-to-be-reborn, The Jethro Tull Christmas Album is the sort of record that’s for life, not just for the holidays, and Ian Anderson knows why.
“It’s partly because some of the tracks are not necessarily Christmas, they’re more seasonal,” he says. “So that gives a broader window. And then there are a couple of them that I quite often play in the middle of summer and say, ‘It’ll soon be Christmas, it’s in the diary, so let’s kick it off now!’”
Now it’s almost the winter solstice, so Tull fans can ring out those bells with renewed abandon thanks to this upcoming festive release. Die-hards will remember the 2003 album as the last to feature Martin Barre on guitar, on a project that also featured keyboard player Andrew Giddings, Jonathan Noyce…
