The Roundhouse is the perfect venue for Public Service Broadcasting. This former railway engine shed-turned-arts centre straddles the old and the new, the grand ironwork and steel pillars propping up the conical roof belonging to a different era to the flashing TVs in the foyer. Like PSB themselves, there’s something of the ‘then’ and the ‘now’ existing comfortably in the same space.
That’s embodied in the gigantic vintage aeroplane instrument panel that makes up PSB’s impressive backdrop tonight, its dials replaced by large circular TV screens beaming out song-appropriate footage throughout the show. It ties in with their recently released new album, The Last Flight, inspired by pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart, who vanished during an attempt to fly solo around the globe in 1937 (like…
