Across 50 years and almost 20 studio albums The Enid have created a singular niche, melding rock music and the diversity of the classical realm with audacity, authenticity, panache and a consistent vision.
In an understated start to the evening the band silently take positions while founder and motive force Robert John Godfrey introduces the first couple of tunes. Billed as one of the band’s 50th anniversary shows, the lack of anything to mark this gig as a special occasion is strange and Godfrey makes no direct reference to it at all.
