Melodic, intelligent and convincing concept album from beefed-up collective. The Bardic Depths, led by writer and multi instrument a list Dave Bandana and conceptualist and lyricist Brad Birzer, came together through the Big Big Train Facebook community. Their self-titled 2020 debut was based on the literary friendship between JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis against the backdrop of World War II. Three of the guests from that album – guitarist Gareth Cole, vocalist/sax player Peter Jones and drummer Tim Gehrt – have since joined Bandana Co-produced by Cosmograf’s Robin Armstrong, Promises Of Hope finds the band developing their blend and multilayered rock, of wraith-like soundscapes conceptually exploring the horror of suicide and the possibility of redemption.
