“Pretty much right before Genesis in 1976, I met keyboard player Dave Stewart. A lovely guy and I thought if I ever formed a band, I’d really like to go with this guy, so I put down a marker as it were, because I didn’t form Bruford until about another year. Bassist Mont Campbell was an extraordinary person too. They were playing a kind of instrumental rock music with two keyboard players including Alan Gowen. It was unusual for its time. It’s written music that’s not classical, but written, modern music, if you like, and I thought that was great. I found it quite difficult to play because I’m not a very fluent reader but at times it was very good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.”…
