“IT’S ABOUT MOTION,” says Playgrounded’s deepthinking synth player, Orestis Zafeiriou of the band’s approach to songwriting. “Our centre is hardly ever a riff,” adds guitarist Michael Kotsirakis, “it’s a sound design structure or a loop that always moves the song forwards. That approach comes from our electronic influences. For me the important part of electronic music is the sense of being lost in a space; so it was a question of: how we do we mix this with the music we grew up with?” New record The Death Of Death is their most defined yet, painstakingly crafted to bestow the best of both genres and transport the listener to a distant world.
