Oksana Linde has had a unique musical career and, at the age of 81 has just released her debut album, the evocative solo synthesiser collection Aquatic And Other Worlds (1983-89). As a child in Venezuela she loved music, and was a self-taught pianist. After graduating in Chemistry from the Central University in Caracas she got a job in a laboratory, and fell ill from working with toxic substances, which caused her terrible headaches, memory loss and insomnia. These effects weren’t understood back in 1981, and she was asked to leave. Linde turned to making visual art. She also bought a Polymoog, a TEAC reel-to-reel and some effects units, and began making music in her home studio, inspired by classical composers, Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, Brian Eno, and a veritable who’s-who of…
