Instrumental post-rock quartet Long Distance Calling have taken inspiration from endangered species and the “erosion of nature” on their upcoming eighth album, Eraser. The record’s set for release on August 26 via earMUSIC, and bassist Jan Hoffman describes it as the group’s “most diverse” album yet. “There’s almost nothing at all electronic on this album compared to the last one,” he explains. “This time, regarding the theme, we tried to be as natural as possible. There’s not a single sample, which is really rare nowadays. But at the same time it sounds modern and state of the art.” Each of the nine songs is dedicated to an endangered species, with the album’s closing title track a take on mankind.
