Malice In Plunderland WHITE KNIGHT Prog-lite collection questioning the accepted order of things. This seventh solo album from UK singer and multi-instrumentalist Steve Thorne continues his highly personal, often indignant explorations of politics, media and corporate manipulation of the masses. Musically, there are no overblown instrumental workouts or symphonic rock drama, just consistent, tautly arranged prog/pop fusions, sprinkled with snippets of dialogue from news broadcasts and elsewhere. Fans of Neal Morse may find a certain familiarity in the refrains of Rubble And Dust and Cup Of Truth (alongside some light Mellotron), and there’s surely more than a little Crowded House influence to Catherine Wheel. Deliberate or merely imagined musical references, it’s hard to say, but the intro to Tall And Strong does bear a striking likeness to It Bites’ Ice…
