Metamorphosis VICISOLUM RECORDS
Icelandic troupe serve up an eclectic prog rock odyssey.
The follow-up to 2017’s Beyond The Night Sky, Metamorphosis builds upon its predecessor’s ambitious and irresistible fusion of progressive metal and hard rock. Dragonflies is a catchy and intricate introduction whose periodic bells accentuate its moody percussion, operatic singing, and hyperactive keyboard and guitar riffs. The interlocking vocals near the end are a nice touch, too, and the quintet sustain that inspirational heftiness across Parasite and Find Me Here.
Ring Of Gyges also explore more delicate and nuanced tapestries on The Choice and Holy Water. Not only do these pieces represent some of the best song-writing and instrumentation on Metamorphosis, but they also make the surrounding dives into full-on prog metal ferocity on Cabin Fever and Nautilus stand…
