Redemption UNICORN DIGITAL Quebec’s finest hit the neo-prog bullseye. If consistency and quality were guarantors of success, Mystery would be in the upper echelons of the prog firmament. It’s been five years between studio albums, but Redemption finds the Quebecois neoproggers in the rudest health, creatively speaking. Michel St-Père’s group continue to target the sweet spot where long-form compositions and technical finesse meet catchy hooks and AOR melodies. Lyrically, the album is big on grand dramatics, which suits vocalist Jean Pageau’s passionate style. He delivers lines like ‘Make these tears shine like stars in your eyes’, from Pearls And Fire, with conviction.
