The Rise Of Medici CRIME RECORDS/WE LÅVE ROCK Italian dynasty gets the harpsichord and symphonic rock treatment. This project, based on the lives of members of the powerful 15th-century Italian Medici dynasty, is the brainchild of guitarist, Eric Bouillette (Nine Skies, The Room, Nova Cascade, etc.). He brought keyboard maestro Clive Nolan, no stranger to ambitious concept pieces and collaborations, on board; sadly, however, Bouillette isn’t around to see the results of his labour – he died from cancer last year. Fundamentally a rock opera, The Rise Of Medici begins with Festina Lente, whose doleful church bell and intoning monks lend it a sense of time and place.
