Nemesis SPIRIT OF UNICORN MUSIC Second album from mood-swinging Brit prog quintet. In the seven years since these British proggers made their bow with Say, the five-piece led by keyboard whizz Rob Cottingham have seen a new singer come on board. Yet on seven-minute opener Asleep At The Wheel, Sarah Bayley’s vocals play more of a background role: a dreamy synthscape fills the air with sweet melodies one minute that are offset by foreboding chords the next. It’s the time-honoured quiet before the storm tactic, as it’s followed by the riff-led hard rock of Tripwire, over which Bayley takes centre stage with a dramatically delivered topline melody taking aim, with a curled lip at ‘the chasms in your head’.
