Sax player Mel Collins – who had previously appeared on 1970’s In The Wake Of Poseidon, Lizard and 1971’s Islands – split from King Crimson, alongside bandmates Boz Burrell and Ian Wallace, after a long and often difficult US tour in early 1972.
