In 2023 the David Cross Band released Ice Blue, Silver Sky, which aside from a collection of original material also featured two King Crimson numbers the violinist had a hand in writing, Exiles from Larks’ Tongues In Aspic and Starless. The latter track is something of an obsession for him, Cross admits, and comes after a 2015 collaboration with Robert Fripp, Starless Starlight, which expanded the track’s principal melody into a full-length ambient suite featuring Cross’s looping violin and Fripp’s soundscapes.
