The 50th anniversary of the sold-out gig at the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park, London by the incredible line-up of Kevin Ayers of Soft Machine fame, former Velvet Underground members John Cale and Nico, and a newly solo Brian Eno, and the live album that it spawned – June 1, 1974 – is to be the subject of a special celebration taking place at The Social in London on June 1. Hosted by music writer Travis Elborough, the event includes a panel discussion featuring former journalist turned Island Records A&R Richard Williams, who organised and recorded the concert; Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera, who would later work with all of the headliners; former Melody Maker Editor Allan Jones; saxophonist John Altman and Nico biographer Jennifer Otter Bickerdike.
