VENUE THE1865, SOUTHAMPTON DATE 04/02/2024 SUPPORT COLIN MASSON All too fleetingly, Beatrix Players glided into the prog realm with their enchanting classically inspired songbook, then disappeared almost as mysteriously as they arrived. After a five-year hiatus, they’re back, extended, re-energised, and with a new album. Supporting them, Colin Masson formerly of The Morrigan, is a one-man music machine. He evokes Mike Old-field-like soundscapes on his guitar over pre-programmed backing tracks. The accompanying visuals offer insightful panoramas to illustrate his intricate, mostly instrumental compositions. Tonight is the third live outing from the latest BP iteration. Sadly, cellist Jane Fenton is missing so string parts are delivered through guitar pedals and keys.
