Second long-player from British band fine-tunes the frequencies. Intended or not, Rain’s 2020 debut, Singularity, contained pronounced gear shifts across its five tracks – due in part to the fact that it was produced remotely, with band members not meeting at any point. Radio Silence is a different beast in many respects. Yes, it boasts an unchanged line-up of drummer Andy Edwards and bassist John Jowitt (both ex-IQ and Frost*) alongside Rob Groucutt (keyboards/lead vocals) and Mirron Webb (guitars/lead vocals) and it draws on both old-school prog and diverse contemporary styles. It is, however, a more song-orientated, more focused and arguably less self-conscious album than their debut.
