Aussie prog metallers’ mix the sublime and the extreme.
It would be easy for those of a more sensitive disposition to be put off by Australian six-piece Ne Obliviscaris’ reputation as an extreme progressive metal band. Yet while gargled vocals and blast beats are two ornaments with which they decorate their music, the bigger picture shows plenty of pleasing progressive pedigree to reward perseverance.
“It showcases them at the height of their powers.” On this, their fourth studio album, the Melbourne band transcend genres and styles like a ghost floating through the walls of a haunted manor.
