The rising, genre-straddling Hungarian quintet with a familial tie to one of their country’s rock music giants.

“We have a lot of great new bands here in Budapest,” Shell Beach guitarist Pali Somló tells Prog, “but I think you can put most of them into a genre - some are indie rock bands, others heavy metal – I think they’re still trying to copy their favourites.” If that’s true, then Somló’s band are unlike any other in their hometown. Their marketing labels them as both experimental rock and post-hardcore, for fans of shoegazey alt-rockers Deftones and ambient proggers The Contortionist alike.
