SWEET 16? LEPROUS SINGER GOES SOLO

Einar Solberg’s debut album features Ihsahn and members of Bent Knee, Vola and more.

Leprous singer, songwriter and synth player Einar Solberg will release his debut solo album, 16, on June 2 via InsideOut. The 11-song LP features collaborations with a host of prog musicians, including Bent Knee’s Ben Levin, Vola’s Asger Mygind and Agent Fresco’s Tóti Guðnason. Lead single Grotto is currently streaming. Talking to Prog, Solberg sees 16 as versatile, but, he says: “I don’t think it’s going to be mind-blowingly surprising, apart from one or two tracks, because Leprous has been challenging our crowds for many years.” He does reveal that the Levin collaboration, Home, is “a hip hop song with actual rapping”, and reckons that the heaviest song on here is Splitting The Soul, made with his brother-in-law, prog metal maverick Ihsahn.
