As if music stopped in 1967. Coming on like a lo-fi version of US art-rock dandies Foxygen but with fewer of The Lemon Twigs’ more irritating aspects, the Canadian-American duo Vanity Mirror are a band for whom the resurrection of the Austin Powers franchise can’t come soon enough, if only so they can replace Ming Tea as the titular hero’s backing band. Touting titles such as Talkin’ Walkie-Talkie Rice Crispies Blues might give the impression that they’re picking up on Bob Dylan’s trail, but really, this is more a case of cack, crackle and slop.
