High-spirited hijinks from genre-fluid trio. The Parallax Method’s debut album has been a long time coming. These instrumental miscreants released two EPs, The Owl and The Squid, in 2016 and 2017. Six years later, Folie À Trois continues where they left off. The trio of guitarist Danny Beardsley, bassist Ben Edis and drummer Dave Wright inhabit the same musical dimension that The Aristocrats call home, as well an enthusiasm for unconventional time signatures and mashing together musical styles, although The Parallax Method have the edge in memorable song titles. The Pope’s Personal Saxophonist demonstrates all of those qualities, with its twisting guitar lines, wonkily funky groove, and detours into jazzy breaks. Daniel’s Bed In A Field morphs from crunchy riff into a minefield of weird syncopation. Batman Broods Over Gotham…
