It’s taken genre-fluid Tel Aviv troupe Neolia 10 years to release this record. Personal and professional obstacles have all contributed to a disjointed creation process for the band. The scattershot result ultimately feels like a representation of the unpredictability of life. Stylistic changes come sharply and unexpectedly throughout, for better or for worse. Your Prophecy snaps from jazz-tinted salsa to panged yet energetic alt-rock with ease, yet at other moments its transitions feel stapled together.
Neolia’s production does occasionally feel a little rough around the edges, but as the chaotic screams of Dance Of Violence and the ever-contorting Rise And Fall attest, the rawness of their emotions often turns that into a positive.
