Fusion-tastic fare from Iamthemorning’s live guitarist.
Loam, better known as Liam McLaughlin to Ma and Pa, is a Scottish guitarist some readers may have seen performing with Iamthemorning. He’s also worked as a live guitarist with the likes of Scottish prog metallers Orynthia and fellow guitarist Sithu Aye, and here, on his new six-track EP, he conjures up a quite fusion-tastic blur of notes, twists, turns and melodies that also touches upon funk, blues and hard rock in the most engaging of manners. From the opening blast of Car Pool Tunnel, through to the closing laid-back funk of Druids, Loam covers plenty of musical ground, but the six tracks losenothing in cohesion, despite their diversity.
