Metal and psych collide on the Australian collective’s 24th album. Melbourne’s King Gizzard are one of the most prolific and stylistically diverse jam bands on the planet. Last year alone they straddled metal, rap and psych on the monolithic Omnium Gatherum and explored modal harmonies on Changes and Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms, And Lava – just three of several releases on their 2022 slate. Infest The Rats’ Nest (2019) showed their affection and facility for prog metal, and they channel that vibe on their heavy, hugely enjoyable 24th album.
