Such is the case with The Anchoret’s It All Began With Loneliness. Although some of it taps into progressive metal theatricality – Stay recalls Haken at their most sophisticatedly eccentric – other tracks go to more surprising places.
Prelude An Office For… matches the calming spaciness of Ayreon with the forlorn melodies of Sky Architect, whereas Until The Sun Illuminates and Unafraid juxtapose gentle harmonies and frenetic arrangements in thrilling yet cohesive ways.
