To witness The Anchoress – the alter ego of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Catherine Anne Davies – in the distinguished surroundings of the Queen Elizabeth Hall tonight is to glance at the past and sneak a peek at a very possible future while taking in a powerful and impassioned present.
Davies’ journey here hasn’t been without its obstacles, not least with the pandemic bringing her justified rise to an unexpected halt. Indeed, the Covid effect is fully in evidence.
