SUPPORT GRACE AND FIRE
Openers Grace And Fire kick off their support slot by announcing they’re big Threshold fans, and the feeling they’re slightly wide-eyed and overawed by the sense of occasion continues throughout their set.
Instrumental opener Overture feels slightly under-rehearsed, but credit to Tim Ashton, who is such a mesmerising bass player that it’s difficult for Prog to keep our eyes off him. His playing is tight, full of ornamentations, and he drives the rhythm section unrelentingly. Chains Of Sanity, also from the band’s 2021 debut album Elysium, is easily the tightest track of the set, the band gelling as a unit with a scrumptious guitar solo from Aaron Gidney.
As a taster for the headliners however, Grace And Fire are definitely moving…
