IN MEMORY OF MIKE PINDER

As co-founder of The Moody Blues, keyboardist Mike Pinder played a significant role in transforming the group from an R&B/beat combo into a chart-topping symphonic progressive powerhouse. He created music from the heart and used his detailed knowledge of the Mellotron to great effect on some of the Moodies’ best-loved songs. His impact on the world of progressive music will continue to be felt by generations to come.

Mike Pinder, keyboard player and founding member of The Moody Blues, died on April 24, aged 82. He was the last surviving founding member of the band – drummer Graeme Edge died in 2021; vocalist and flautist Ray Thomas died in 2018; original bassist Clint Warwick died in 2004; while original guitarist Denny Laine, who later found fame with Paul McCartney and Wings, passed away last year. His family said in a statement, “Michael Thomas Pinder died on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at his home in Northern California, surrounded by his devoted family.
