Unlikely team up produces classical/fusion fireworks. Pairing an orchestra with a rock band is always a risky venture. It might produce an album as groundbreaking as Days Of Future Passed or something as turgid as The Symphonic Music Of Yes. Fortunately, this collaboration between prog fusion power trio The Aristocrats and Poland’s Primuz Chamber Orchestra is a delightful meeting of worlds. The arrangements, by Wojtek Lemański, are superb. Rather than merely backing up the band, the classical musicians take the lead melody – beautifully done in The Ballad Of Bonnie And Clyde – or even trade riffs with the trio in Dance Of The Aristocrats.
