Lockdown heartache, lingering grief, and one very tight deadline have led to A Model Life, the “experimental” fifth album from the polymathic progger in his solo incarnation.

John Mitchell will release the fifth album under his Lonely Robot banner later this year. Available from August 26 via InsideOut, A Model Life follows Feelings Are Good, released in July 2020, and sees the artist continue his trajectory away from the ‘astronaut’ concept with which he first launched the project, back in 2015. The It Bites/Frost* star reveals to Prog that Feelings Are Good’s relatively muted release, mid-pandemic, has made him slightly more apprehensive about the new record than usual. “As anybody who released an album at the start of lockdown will tell you,” he says, “that was an incredibly bad idea.
