ONE EYE ON PROG I read with interest Feargal’s Star Letter [Prog 156] about the role of those great specialist prog retailers currently out there. Can I also give a shout-out to those that have gone before? In particular, back in the 90s, Cyclops, and its mailorder arm GFT Music, were something of a shining light as prog emerged from the doldrums. Run by Malcolm Parker, the label had some 170 releases in the 90s and 00s along with a chunky mailorder catalogue, covering both old and new prog, which contained dozens of titles. They also hosted a range of new bands on the label including Mostly Autumn, The Pineapple Thief, Flamborough Head, Parallel Or 90 Degrees, and many others.
