“I couldn’t really see my name looking cool in a metal logo,” confesses Charlie Griffiths. For his second album, Gods Of Pangaea, Griffiths has adopted the monicker Tiktaalika, taken from the title of his 2022 solo debut. “This is very much a follow-up, so I wanted to make it clear it’s part of that lineage,” he says. “I had Dan Goldsworthy, who did the first album cover, do this one, and that’s his thing – old school, 90s-style death metal artwork. Putting my name in there became too cumbersome.”
Alongside the album title, tracks like Mesozoic Mantras and Lost Continent reveal Griffiths’ long-standing enthusiasm for pre-history.
