Strange Dance BELLA UNION When he’s not busy being a member of the most critically acclaimed band in the known universe, Philip Selway has occupied his time making a string of well-received solo records and soundtracks, such as 2017’s Let Me Go. His third solo album proper is quite a step up sonically from what’s gone before. Strange Dance performs the neat trick of being huge in auditory scope while remaining intimate throughout, a product, perhaps, of Selway’s limited but charming singing voice. Lauded electronic musician Hannah Peel and percussionist Valentina Magaletti add extra musical dimensions here, while producer Marta Salogni presides over some wonderfully soaring songs, such as The Heart Of It All, augmented by the London Chamber Orchestra.
