DIM GRAY PICK UP THE PIECES ON THIRD ALBUM

Shards deals with the nature of change and upheaval.

Norwegian art-rockers Dim Gray have announced the release of their third studio album, Shards, which is out on February 28 via Grim Day Records. The album follows on from 2020 debut Flown and 2022’s Firmament. Led by core members Håkon Høiberg (guitars, vocals), Tom Ian Klungland (drums) and Oskar Holldorff (vocals, keys), Dim Gray expanded to a quintet in 2023 with the addition of bassist Kristian Kvaksrud and Milad Amouzegar on guitar and keys. “Seven of the songs on Shards are about change, upheaval, severance: something shattering to pieces,” says Holldorff. “Although most are sad or dramatic, some have a tinge of hopefulness, as sometimes the pieces of something shattered can be rearranged in different and better ways.
