On a dark November night, Held By Trees conjure light with resplendent sounds weaving magical spells. The Louisiana is sold out with an expectant crowd (amazing what an article in The Guardian can do!). Starting as a David Joseph solo project during lockdown, Held By Trees have grown from a love of Spirit Of Eden/Laughing Stock-era Talk Talk and Mark Hollis’s solo music. Joseph recruited musicians from those albums, including renowned guitarist Robbie McIntosh, previously of The Pretenders and Paul McCartney’s band, who played on Spirit Of Eden. Far from being a ‘tribute’ act, they blossomed beautifully in their own right with totally original music.
