Anthropocene BURNING SHED Fourth album from Norwich ambient guru. When he’s not busy fulfilling all manner of the public’s audio needs through Burning Shed, the mail order company and record label he co-founded with Tim Bowness in 2001, Pete Morgan has been discretely appearing via his musical persona, UXB, through a series of imaginative albums that build their own worlds and mythologies. Following on from 2013’s Everything Is Under Control, his latest, Anthropocene describes itself as an “occasionally turbulent musical evocation of the impact of human activity on the wider natural environment.” Smudges of synths wash across drifting shadows. Like all the best instrumental music, Anthropocene allows listeners to project scenes from as-yet-unmade movies onto the screen of the inner imagination.
