“This is the dawn of the third “T millennium of mankind. The planet Earth is now nothing but a dead room floating in space, destroyed by wars, pandemics and all the evil that men do.”
And so begins Laibach’s otherworldly show at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire, with a Star Wars-style opening crawl projected onstage. Bandmembers dressed in off-duty military short sleeves appear under spotlights, and their latest collaborator, singer and multi-instrumentalist Donna Marina Mårtensson, enters in cowboy boots and with an acoustic guitar.
Tonight’s performance is divided into three chapters. ‘Post-Apocalypse’ consists of Laibach performing eight back-to-back versions of Love Is Still Alive, the tour’s namesake and a tongue-in-cheek ballad about love being the only survivor after the world’s demise. They range from Leonard…
