It’s been four years since Animals As Leaders’ knotted soundscapes last graced UK stages, a wait extended since January after the band postponed the tour at the last minute. Despite returning to play venues twice the size as last time, AAL have made no effort to add to their stage show. One look around the gawping crowd will tell you that the trio – comprising two genuine modern-day guitar heroes and a drummer far from content taking a backseat – are the stage show. Indeed, very few bands on the planet can rely on pure talent to be a great spectacle.
