Long established Norwegian indie/alt-rockers Green Sky Accident’s first release for specialist Nordic prog label vivid artwork reminiscent of pulp 70s sci-fi novels, but while there are subtle hints of space rock here, this is some distance from Hawkwind territory.
Instead, Daytime TV draws heavily on the UK’s ‘Madchester’ and shoegaze are strains of The Stone Roses, Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine throughout, with singer/guitarist Tore Torgrimsen balancing his vocal delivery between wafting melancholy and cynical resignation. Highlights frenetic title track, which is include the sunny, slightly perfect for a drive in the country with the roof down; boasts spacy contemplative verses and wall-of-noise choruses, while While We Lasted has a post-rock epicness and inscrutable lyrical concoction.
