Madcap Norsemen get back to winning ways on 11th album. Tusmørke are at their most effective when they’ve got their groove on. The prolific prog four-piece lost some momentum on last year’s Intetnett, which was packed with 21 unsatisfying vignettes. Lessons have been learned on Hestehoven (the Norwegian name of a hardy perennial that herbalists use to treat gout). Their 11th album is a bawdy, Norwegian-language concept record about randy sorcerers enjoying an orgy of Dionysian excess on tracks like The Wicked Ways Of Witches And Wizards, marrying frantic flute and harpsichord to a rhythm track undoubtedly influenced by Turkish psyche. Cycle Of The Gylfaginning is similarly ebullient, propelled along by a pinging ride cymbal and yet more enchanted flute ostinatos. There’s still room for silliness elsewhere – the title…
