It’s a cool spring evening in Highland Park, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. A respectable crowd has gathered under the outdoor venue’s pavilion, with more than a few others filling the lawn, snacking from their picnic baskets and enjoying a sip or two of wine. Regardless of positioning, we’re all about to spend the night in the presence of a legend.
It’s hard to imagine guitarist Pat Metheny as one of jazz’s elder statesmen until one considers that he released his first solo album nearly 50 years ago. But make no mistake – he’s about to prove to us why he’s still relevant on the music scene today.
